2017-18 Season Esports Workshops
Don’t waste your weekend! Join us for a series of workshops to improve your game, to learn about the behind-the-scenes work of Esports, and to meet other high school Esports players! Each week will include a new theme surrounding competitive League of Legends play, including topics like building a gaming PC, lane strategy, and casting. During each workshop, participants will have a chance to practice these exciting new skills. Join us each Saturday at the UCI esports arena.
Workshop Details:
Time: 9:00am – 12:00pm (breakfast included)
Location: University of California, Irvine (UCI) Esports Arena, G205 C Student Center, Irvine, CA 92697
Cost: Free but registration required
Attendees: Open to all students
Arena Play: Parents/guardians are welcome to play while their student attends the workshop. All students who attend will also receive a free hour of game play from 12:00pm – 1:00pm.

Do you want to learn how to build your own computer? Come and learn how to put together the best esports rig by building your own gaming PC with iBuyPower. In this workshop, you’ll learn the basics of putting together a PC so that when the time comes, you’ll be able to customize your very own. Don’t miss your chance to meet players from one of the best collegiate esports team in the nation, UCI's League of Legends team!
Analyzing the game
Behind the scene of professional esports players, there are coaches and analysts who dive into game data and create strategies. In this workshop, we will learn to play better by looking at the game and characters with the help of some UCI esports analysts. Afterward, we’ll put our newly learned skills into practice.
Improving your game
If you know your enemies and know yourself, you will not be imperiled in a hundred battles – Sun Tzu. In this workshop, we analyze our awesome (and not so awesome) plays, in order to make us even better!
Casting your game
Let’s get ready to play Rummmmbbbble! With a shoutcaster esports is exciting for the players and for the audience. From a technical set up to professional communication skills, this workshop will cover how to be a captivating and energetic shoutcaster! Come see other player’s fascinating plays and practicing casting in the professional setting of UCIs Esports Arena and with our casters’ guidance.
Streaming your game
Whether you want to build a global horde of followers on Twitch or just let your friends watch your games, streaming is a useful way to share your games with others. In this workshop we’ll cover the basics of online streaming, including tips on setting up your stream, on creativity, dealing with trolls.
Tournament organization
Do you have a group of friends you want to compete with? Are you interested in seeing who’s the best around? Want to know more about how the esports industry works? Join this workshop to learn more about how to run your own tournaments and about the jobs that are available to support competitive gaming!
